Uninspired
The more time I spend away from my work, the more work I’m able to do.
Think with your legs. Think with your hands.
It’s productive procrastination.
It’s 2 steps back that give you 3 steps forward.
Think. Think. Think.
That’s where the good stuff comes from.
That’s why people tend to have good ideas in the shower or driving. It’s a monotonous task that doesn’t require extreme focus.
When I make time to mindlessly wander both physically and mentally, the more creative I can be in every aspect of my live. This gives me the opportunity to be better at my work, be a better friend, get better perspective and insight, solve problems, and answer questions.
This has easily become one of my favorite ways to spend my time.
As someone who used to despise any pause of movement, I can say I’m quite the opposite nowadays.
I was the kid who constantly had to be doing something, I enjoyed chatting, I enjoyed playing, I enjoyed “doing,” and when there was any stop to that I luckily had a brother to wreak havoc to.
I’m not saying this is how most of our time should be spent, but the next time you have a question or are feeling uninspired find a task where you can let your mind wander and soon enough you will be at peace.
WHAT I’VE BEEN LEARNING
I’ve been spending a lot of time continuing to learn about mitochondria not only from a nutrition perspective but also from a muscular perspective. I’ve found a lot of answers to the questions I’ve had about training and why things feel the way they do.
I’ve been posting about them on twitter and will continue to because I’m not sure why it isn’t talked about more, especially coaches who are coaching at a high level. Their athletes should also know this. The mitochondria dictate all responses to any muscle contraction and how quick it can recover.
Once you get a basic understanding of this you’re able to better structure training with MORE intention. The coach can only dictate so much, the athlete must know what is expected of them for each piece and be able to adjust everything accordingly.
